The Kar98K is one of the most recognisable rifles in history. Its elegant silhouette, high accuracy and widespread use during the Second World War have ensured that it remains an icon of military weaponry to this day, well known to enthusiasts of history, films and computer games.
This model from Specna Arms is designed to meet the needs of those seeking an airsoft gun that faithfully replicates the original, distinguished by its high attention to detail and the use of natural wood components.
The first feature that catches the eye when you pick up the replica is the wooden stock, which gives it a classic look. The metal bolt bears the manufacturer’s markings ‘byf 43’, which enhances the model’s authenticity.
The bolt features a safety catch to prevent the rifle from firing accidentally. There are also mounting holes for a scope on the side of the bolt.
Inside the replica, components compatible with the VSR system have been used. The design includes a steel cylinder, a steel cylinder head assembly with a nozzle, a steel spring guide and an aluminium piston.
The model comes with a 25-round magazine. Whilst this isn’t true to the historical model, it is far more practical – you don’t have to worry about spent casings falling out after every reload.
The Kar98K is a spring-powered airsoft gun designed for enthusiasts of historical replicas. Let’s not kid ourselves – this isn’t a model for CQB, onto which you’d attach a laser sight or torch (though you could give it a go). It’s perfect, however, for re-enactments of events from the Second World War.
