The Wolverine MTW Forged 10” Tactical XBR comes with many of the same advantages as its real-steel counterpart. It is modular, adaptable and capable of performing in any scenario. MTW, meaning “Modular Training Weapon”, is an airsoft platform that is designed for high performance and compatibility. Not only can MTW replicas be upgraded with many MTW parts, they are also compatible with AEG and real-steel parts and accessories.
This platform is known for its quality – and the MTW Forged 10” Tactical XBR is no exception. A real AR-15 forged aluminium receiver is used as the base for this replica, which is then adapted for airsoft use by Wolverine. Thanks to the forging process, the receiver is structurally stronger. This build quality extends to the handguard, which is 10” long, extremely light and made from durable aluminium. A Weaver/Picatinny rail runs along the top of both the handguard and receiver, providing plenty of space for the mounting of optics. The handguard also has M-LOK slots on the bottom and both sides, allowing for plenty mounting options for foregrips or lasers.
Disassembly of the Wolverine MTW Forged 10” Tactical XBR is entirely toolless. Internally, this smart and accessible design becomes clear as well. The airline connector is fixed at the back of the receiver, just below the buffer tube. It is held in place by a button and thus easily removed and fixed back in place. This positioning of the airline at the back of the receiver rather than in the pistol grip makes moving around with the replica easier and more natural. Additionally, the “Tactical” designation points to the DLG-made pistol grip and the DLG TBS compact stock.
The XBR upgrades further add to the quality and user experience of this replica. An Inferno XTS HPA engine delivers higher performance and shot consistency, while customisation is made convenient by the Bluetooth connectivity of the FCU (Fire Control Unit). This FCU can detect when the magazine is empty, if a compatible magazine is inserted. Firing is then disabled, until a new magazine is loaded and the bolt release is pressed.
Finally, the Quake MTW stock provides the replica with an advanced method of simulating recoil. It integrates directly with the Inferno XTS engine, which feeds pressurised air back into the buffer tube. As a result, the stock is pushed back into the shoulder with every shot, adding even more realism to the user experience.
